You will be instructed in colour theory and shown images of angels portrayed through the centuries by different cultures. A synthesis of personal associations, symbols, objects and intuition are combined and channeled through the drawing and painting process to render your personal angel image. About the Artist
Biography Born in Cape Town. A child of the Fifties and Sixties. Sagittarian vegetarian. Nature nurtures her during her formative years u0026#8211; sustains and inspires her as an artist. Currently living in Johannesburg. Expanding her portfolio. Teaching others to explore and express their creativity through private art classes and workshops. Seeing with the eye of the mystic and visionary, revealing the mystery within and beyond physical form. Her concern: The sacredness of life. Her code of conduct: To make whole. To heal. “Sanctify yourself and sanctify society” u0026#8211; a sentiment she shares with St Francis of Assisi. Her method: Paint and meditate. If you can do it at the same time – even better. Her passion: Colour. Her path: A spiritual one. She walks it. (she prefers to travel on foot). Her dress sense: Carefully selected colours, mostly hand-dyed. Known affectionately as The Lady in Red by her pupils. “Everything that surrounds us emits vibrations and frequencies. What we emanate will return to us.” Hence she laughs a lot. Artist’s statement
Small commonplace objects, fruits, flowers and stones are imbued with spirituality and depicted in simple, bold compositions, which assume monumentality.The images portrayed represent universal symbols of intimacy, sharing, abundance, fertility and dreams. Light is used to create the ethereal quality and the clear, colourful palette represents the life force.The fruits and flowers are a celebration of life. The pictures exude beauty, serenity, and warmth and create a healing atmosphere for the viewer. By Amanda Ellis One of the characteristics of good art is that it points beyond its overt subject to qualities which cannot be defined in words. On the surface these are drawings derived from flowers, seeds, fruit, genitalia and fetuses. But they go way beyond this. They are abstraction and modification of their visual beginning and they are distilled to indicate qualities of ripeness, fertility and sexuality. And it is a curiously sweet and gentle quality they evoke rather than the gynecological nightmare that is the obvious trap for this sort of content. The large colour pastel drawings have a sensual lushness which is visually very satisfying. Their gestural strokes are beautifully countered by cuts in the surfaces. Framing Each fine art piece available to purchase can be sold unframed, with an appropriate reduction in price.
